7th Grade Artists
Students created replicas of Pablo Picasso's cubist portraits.
Students selected a Picasso artwork and then transferred the outline to newspaper. Students were able to explore using newspaper as their canvas and oil pastels as their medium.

Day 1) Create a wash on 2 ,2 page spreads Day 2) Add shape to your pages using colored pencil, sharpie, newspaper, and construction paper Day 2) Add line designs to your work Day 2) Add at least 3 words to your work DAy 3) Draw an image, add photos, add personal fodder, stream of consciousness writing Day 4) Add any other designs or details that you want to finish your journal pages If you have not already emailed me your photo or brought one in...send one to me tonight so you are ready in the morning. We will be using clay tomorrow! Be prepared with a smock or old shirt if you are worried about messing up your clothes.

Animal Portraits were due Wednesday the 16th!!
We started a portrait unit today! Bring in a photo of yourself for reference. Students will create a MURAL with their peers using the elements of art and principles of design. Students will go over the following vocabulary terms: MONOCHROMATIC, COLOR, LINE, SPACE, REPETITION, MURAL, SHAPE and OVERLAPPING!
Students have been learning about proportion and realism this week.
Students are in the middle of creating their self-portrait. Due Date Friday May 12th at the end of class This is a double weighted final product grade Students are collaborating with their peers at Lost Mountain Middle School on a poetry unit. Students began this week with introductions. Students from Durham created and wrote a post card to their partner at Lost Mountain and will be awaiting their response. Next, students are working on a 2D piece that depicts an Adversity that they have faced in their life. Students will be giving their artwork to their partner at Lost Mt. to interpret and write a poem based on the visual. Looking a head, students will be invited to an Art/LA night at Lost Mt. Middle to celebrate their success and so students can meet in person!
