7th Grade Artists
Students will continue to build work based off color theory. Students will create 2D observational painting of an animal using the complementary color schemes. Students will be mixing paint to create at least twenty colors to apply to their animal portrait.

What do I want students to know?
Students are creating realistic portraits of someone they know.
Vocabulary: portrait, self-portrait, proportion, scale, sitter, background, unity Students created original color wheels. Students are making 2d paintings of animals using complementary colors. Students are working on color mixing, VALUE, color schemes, and design.
Students will created Valentines Cards and drawings for the men and woman that live at Elmcroft Assisted Living Homes.
Students created self portraits with their choice of 2D media.
Students are creating artist trading cards that will be sent to different schools around the state of Georgia. Our students will then be receiving an artist card in return, from another art student, at another school outside of Cobb County.
Students are creating 3D mixed media masks.
Students have the choice between a human, animal, or fictional creature. Students have learned the importance of masks as it pertains to different cultures and time periods, all around the world. Students will create sequential storyboards about a original creature using their knowledge of the art elements and principles of design. Students will have the opportunity to exhibit their work in an art show November 29th or during the chorus concerts in December.
