The tangram is a Chinese puzzle consisting of seven flat shapes, called tans, which are put together to form shapes. The objective of the puzzle is to form a specific shape using all seven pieces, which may not overlap.
Students will be creating their very own tangram books incorporating printmaking and stamp design Students are still working on their Japanese New Year projects. Students are constructing their own Daruma Doll to set goals for 2018. Students are also designing and mailing post cards to a loved one! **Remember to bring in a stamp :) Students are beginning to create 3D sculptures of Daruma Doll.
The wishing dolls are handmade used for the Japanese New Year. Students will bring home a syllabus they need signed on Day ONE. We use sketchbooks daily and students will need one Monday January 8th. I will also send home an order form for sketchbooks. You may order from the art department or get one from any store. Looking forward to starting 3rd quarter!!!
Students are researching and creating a Sway presentation on a disease of their choice.
Students will then create a watercolor painting of their diseased cell. Students have the opportunity to submit their work for the collaborative STEAM art show Jan. 11th at the Kennesaw Art Station. Students are creating a piece for the PTSA Reflections competition.
This years theme is "Within Reach." Due: Nov. 10th at the end of class with 100 word artist statement Objectives: Why Reflections? So students can....
How will you create a 2D artwork that does not exceed 24x30” and depicts the theme: “Within Reach,” using your knowledge of the art elements and principles of design? Students are creating self-portraits that are part realistic and part abstract. Students faces need to be drawn realistic and in proportion. The hair of their self-portrait will be abstract and expressive. Students have the option to Zentangle, write descriptive words, a reflective quote, or a combination in their hair.
Week one:
Students are participating in getting to know you activities as well as designing their portfolio. Students will need a sketchbook by Monday October 16th. |
