Students are bringing home a syllabus to have signed along with a permission slip for an art contest. Due Tuesday March 21st.
Students are also to bring in 2 black sharpies any size and a sketchbook by Monday March 27th. The school store does have some sketchbooks available for purchase. If you are unable to get a sketchbook please email me and I will take care of it. I am looking forward to a wonderful and exciting 4th quarter.
Students are working on comic panels inspired by Roy Lichtenstein.
Criteria for work: Primary colors, skin tones Medium= paint at least one character at least one word bubble background pointillism in at least one area craftsmanship= neat Bold black lines with sharpie DUE: Tuesday March 7th Students are beginning a 1 pt. perspective unit by creating 11 cubes.
Students are also to show VALUE by creating a light, medium, and dark side to the cubes. Activity 1- Students created 12 boxes using a one point perspective. (4 above, 4 on, 4 below the horizon line)
Activity 2- Students created 9 geometric shapes using a vanishing point. Activity 3- Students designed their names with block letters and in 1 pt. perspective Activity 4- Final project: Students will create a room in an art gallery using 1 pt. perspective. The artwork on the walls of the gallery will be reproductions of famous pieces that the students research.
Looking ahead, We will be working on observational tree drawings outside next Monday and Wednesday. Please come prepared with a sweatshirt in case our weather changes.
You will need your pencil, agenda, and sketchbooks all week. Our featured artist of the week will be Emily Carr, in case you want a sneak peak at her artwork. Please send in at least one cereal box and a piece of poster board.
Students will be creating portfolios with the poster board and keeping all their work throughout the quarter inside it. The cereal boxes will be turned into sketchbooks. Students are also starting a portrait inspired by Gustav Klimt's work "Baby Cradle." Students are creating a 100 word autobiography with a 2D visual arts piece depicting the theme: "What Is Your Story?"

Students used some of Vincent Van gogh's flower art for inspiration.
