6-8th grade artists at Durham Middle School
The pin up show at KSU is a one day exhibit and contest open to all. You may submit 2 pieces and the medium must be able to be mounted to a wall with 4 push pins. You may bring the artwork to the festival yourself and hang it up between 11 a.m. and 1:30 pm Saturday 29th for judging OR the first 10 Durham students to bring Ms. Gaut artwork for the festival may drop it off to the art room for Ms. Gaut to deliver it to KSU. If you are bringing the artwork to Durham to have it delivered make sure Mrs. Gaut gets it BEFORE Monday April 17th!!
Good luck to the following students that have entered their ceramic piece for the April Diversity show at Mable House. We will find out soon if your work will be on exhibit for all in the county to see.

Is it junk, trash, or treasure? Whatever you like to call it, recyclable materials can become a valuable resource in the eyes and hands of an artist. This art invitational is a chance for students to rethink, re-imagine, and reinvent the concept of what art is or has to be…And while we’re at it, do our part to contribute to the three R’s of recycling: reduce, reuse, and recycle. Kennesaw State University's Art Education Department and Cooper Middle School invite you to join us for this years Junk Yard Art Wars

Empty Egg Cartons
Empty cereal boxes
Bottle caps (milk, pop, Gatorade)
clean empty pop/coke cans
clean empty tin cans (green bean cans etc.) no labels on them please
odd and end object that could be useful when making a "junkyard sculpture" (screws, bolts)

Art Contest Rules:
February’s Theme is "American Heart" Month. The deadline is this Friday(2-10-17).
March is “National Nutrition" Month. Dead line = 3-17-17
April is “School Nutrition Hero Day". Dead line = 4-21-17
I have 1 free movie pass for the winner of our school for each month. All artwork will be judged/voted on by me, my staff. Then submitted to our Central Office to be entered into the county wide contest. Winners will be awarded.
Congratulations 8th grade on a beautiful and successful art show last night. All the pieces from all the schools were wonderful and so unique. If you did not get a chance to go last night, the exhibit will be on display until January 30th at the Art Station in Kennesaw.

Thirty 8th grade students from Durham have been selected to exhibit masks alongside other middle and high school students in Cobb County.
