6th Grade Artists

Students brought home a syllabus tonight.
Please sign and return them to Mrs. Gaut during art class. Students need a pencil and sketchbook for Monday's class. Students spent the week outside drawing and painting landscapes with trees.
Students were inspired to create observational nature drawings after learning about artist, Emily Carr. Students are working on PTSA Reflections competition.
Students are creating 2D pieces inspired by the theme "Heroes Around Me." Students will also being creating an artist statement about their hero and artwork. Due September 21st Students are starting a unit where they will make multiple artworks in 1pt. perspective. Activity 1- Cubes Activity 2- Geometric Shapes Activity 3- Name Designs Activity 4- Watercolor Landscape or Cityscape in 1 pt. perspective Activity 5- Art Gallery Students are creating 2D self-portraits using their choice of drawing media.
Students may use a mirror, take a selfie, or bring in a photo from home to help them. Due date: Tuesday March 27th end of class Students will be bringing home a syllabus for a parent/guardian to sign.
Students are required to get a sketchbook by Monday's class. We will be using this sketchbook daily and it will be 40% of the students grade. I also sent home a sketchbook order form if you would like to purchase one from the school for $5.00. The money goes directly back into the art program for supplies. Looking forward to having an exciting quarter! Students are creating low relief animal sculptures using modeling clay. Students will be able to identify and describe low and high relief sculpture as well as sculpture in the round.
Students are creating 4 preliminary sketches of objects as characters.
Students will select at least one object and create a final character on 12x18 paper. Students will create a setting for the character using their knowledge of the art elements and principles of design. The objects must show a range of value including highlights and shadows to give them a 3D appearance. The character must have a personality. The artwork must have a title, date, and signature. Due Date: March 2nd at the end of class. Students are learning how to create VALUE using line and shading.
VALUE- Value is one of the seven ART ELEMENTS. Value deals with the lightness or darkness of a COLOR. |
