“I don't say everything, but I paint everything.” Pablo Picasso
Students are creating comic strips with at least 3 storyboards and a title box. Students have the option to create their own character(s) or select one that was provided by a Pickett's Mill artist. If students selected a character from the elementary artist, they will collaborate in a vertical team show at Allatoona High School on Thursday November 29th at 7 p.m. Allatoona High School artists will also be participating in this collaborative event.

Students are using their photograph to create a 2D artwork inspired by the Mexican holiday, Day of the Dead. Students are including symbols that represent that day as well as placing paint and designs on their face to symbolize sugar skulls. Students learned about artist Jose Posada and his skeleton prints as well as many facts about Día de los Muertos.
If you are interested in signing up for art club, please download the application or come see me for a printed application. The application asks for three teacher recommendations, parent permission, and a $25 supply fee. I am taking the first 20 applicants with great teacher recommendations. Please do NOT send in the 25$ until after you know you are for sure in the club. Thank you! Please look closely to the parent letter for art club dates and the explanation of what we will be doing all year.
Artwork and artist statement are due at the end of class Friday August 17th. You may hand write or type your statement. Please make sure that your statement describes and reflects what is portrayed in your artwork. Check spelling!!

Students are required to get a sketchbook by Monday's class. We will be using this sketchbook daily and it will be 40% of the students grade. I also sent home a sketchbook order form if you would like to purchase one from the school for $5.00. The money goes directly back into the art program for supplies. Students were also given the choice to get a canvas product to paint for their final artwork OR they may paint a ceiling tile for the art room. If your students want to purchase canvas shoes Walmart and Amazon have the best pricing. They may also get a canvas hat or bag or panel. Looking forward to having an exciting quarter! |
